There are many different ways you can support our extraordinary community. Below are some of our worthy programs and vital areas of need.
Individual Program Areas of Need
Club Sports: Club Sports offers individuals the chance to organize, coach, or participate in sports falling beyond the scope of intramurals but not offered at the varsity level. Club teams participate in a competitive schedule of league and tournament play with other college, university, and local area teams.
Facilities: Maintaining and enhancing the various facilities and locations at UCLA Recreation, in order to provide the best possible product and programs for the UCLA community, is a continual process. The various locations and facilities include:
John Wooden Center - The John Wooden Center features 3 gymnasia, basketball courts, indoor and outdoor weight training, stretching mats, stationary bicycles, stair climbers, treadmills, rowing machines, and a Rock Wall.
Pauley Pavilion - Pauley Pavilion features three regulation basketball courts or six regulation volleyball courts.
Marina Aquatic Center - The Marina Aquatic Center features equipment rentals, group and private lessons in sailing, windsurfing, rowing, surfing & kayaking. Aquatic team building events and small group meeting space.
Sunset Canyon Recreation Center - The Sunset Canyon Recreation Center features a 50 meter pool with diving facilities, a 25 yard family pool, picnic/barbeque areas, sand volleyball court, grass for sunning, Frisbee and volleyball, and the Challenge Ropes Course.
Sycamore Park - Sycamore Park features six tennis courts, a golf chipping area and a putting green.
Drake Track Stadium - Drake Stadium features a nine-lane 400 meter track with javelin, triple jump, long jump, and an infield events area.
Los Angeles Tennis Center - The Los Angeles Tennis Center features eight tennis courts and the Straus Clubhouse.
Recreation Fields - The IM Field and North Athletic Field feature intramural sports, club sports, open recreation and special events.
Student Activities Center - The Student Activities Center features a gymnasium, lockers, showers, an outdoor swimming pool.
Fit Center South - Fit Center South features cardiovascular equipment, lockers and showers, and a warm hydrotherapy pool.
Intramural Sports: Intramural sports offers competition in men's, women's and coed divisions for team and individual play in over 40 activities. Participants of any ability are encouraged to play.
Marina Aquatic Center: Features equipment rentals, group and private lessons in sailing, windsurfing, rowing, surfing & kayaking. Aquatic team building events and small group meeting space
Outdoor Adventures: Outdoor Adventures offers students and members a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life to enjoy the wonders of local and distant mountains and waterways. Outdoor Adventures is located both on campus in the John Wooden Center and off campus at the Marina Aquatic Center.
Summer Youth Camp: Youth and Family Programs offers an exciting summer camp program for children ages 5-17 years. Activities for younger children include indoor/outdoor games, arts & crafts, swimming and field trips. Elementary school children can choose camps that focus on science, sports, acting, creative thinking or arts & crafts. Secondary school kids can enjoy educational adventure camps or programs in surfing, sailing and rock-climbing. Swimming and tennis classes as well as teen outdoor adventure programs are also offered during the summer. Additionally a variety of programs and special events are designed for family participation.
Adaptive Recreation: UCLA Recreation is committed to providing innovative services, assistive technology and educational resources for persons who have a disability (physical or developmental) or a special health need, thus enabling our patrons to enjoy the pursuit of adaptive recreation. With the goal to improve the quality of life for UCLA students and community members, our unique and integrative approach to adaptive recreation emphasizes:
- Providing greater access to outdoor recreation and other recreation pursuits
- Educating individuals to safely participate in Recreation programs
- Providing equipment and resources to help individuals achieve greater functional
- Independence in recreational activity
- Exploring partnerships with the Office for Students with Disabilities
